Make a call that sticks.

Some decisions are too important to rush, and too complex to settle in a regular meeting. The options are known, the data has been discussed, and yet the call keeps being deferred — or gets made on paper without the organisation behind it. A Decision Lab exists for that moment.

Two sides to every decision

Every strategic decision has a market side — what we should do — and an organisational side: whether we can actually do it, who owns it, and what it will take.

Often the organisational side is what makes the decision difficult. A Decision Lab deliberately works through both: what the organisation should do, and what it will take to act on that decision.

Decisions I work on:

My strongest territory is commercial growth, customer and marketing — the kinds of decisions I spent my executive career making and being accountable for.

  • Which products or services to keep, which to sunset, and which to launch.
  • How to price, and where value is quietly being given away.
  • Where the next phase of growth comes from, and which segments or markets deserve the investment.
  • How the company goes to market: channels, acquisition, retention, and who owns the customer.
  • Whether the commercial organisation is set up for what the strategy now requires — ownership and accountability, skills in the team, the technology and data behind it, and where AI genuinely helps rather than distracts.
  • How the leadership team itself works — decision rights, meeting rhythms, behaviours and ways of working, and what needs to change for the team to be more effective.

How it works

Typically four to six weeks, in three phases.

Frame

One extended session with the leadership team to scope the decision properly: what is really being decided, where the disagreements sit, and what evidence is needed.

Work

Focused working sessions — usually around four — to test options, challenge assumptions, work through the tensions and close the gaps between meetings.

Decide

One extended closing session to reach the decision and commit to how it will be mobilised: owners, resources, timeline.

What you walk away with

A clear decision and a realistic mobilisation plan, captured in one concise decision record: the rationale, the owners, the resources committed, the accountabilities agreed and the next steps.

Starting smaller

If the decision itself is not yet clear, the Frame session can be taken on its own: half a day with the leadership team, ending in a short written framing of the decision you are actually facing, what it depends on, and what evidence you would need to make it well. If you go on to a full Decision Lab, the fee is credited.

4 hour session

For the leadership team — typically five to eight people.

A full Decision Lab is scoped and quoted per engagement, depending on the decision and what it needs. The Frame session fee is credited against it.

After the decision

Making a decision is one thing. Making it count is another. Where useful, I stay alongside the executive or leadership team as Impact Partner — challenging assumptions, navigating obstacles and keeping the focus on the outcomes the decision was intended to achieve.
